Join us on September 15th in person or virtually for our monthly ISSA meeting and to hear Sean Updegrove, BECU’s Director of Asset Protection deliver a presentation covering multiple facets in enterprise security.

Sean is responsible for ensuring the protection and assurance of BECU digital assets, identity, keys, secrets, certificates, applications, and APIs, in our hosted or on premise compute and storage environments. Sean is the Product Owner for the enterprise Zero Trust security program that is transforming the security posture for BECU.

Sean has been a Chief Technical Officer and Chief Information Security Officer and brings over 20 years of IT leadership experience in both healthcare and financial services industries. He has spent time as a consulting CIO for multiple healthcare and financial services clients where his area of focus included the creation of strategic technology roadmaps, prioritization, ROI analyses, and product evaluations. Sean has been consistently recognized for his vast experience in building and leading healthcare IT and global financial services technology organizations from the ground up, as well as leading technology integrations for large mergers and acquisitions.

Sean’s extensive IT leadership background in two very different, but highly regulated industries, has gained him a unique set of experiences. In both financial services and health care, Sean has operated at the highest levels of large organizations. He has extensive time working, meeting, and partnering with the most senior executives to form high level business objectives and the plans to meet them. He is a strong believer in creating a structure that governs the IT area with concentration on strategy, interoperability, rationalization of systems and applications, strong vendor management, and strong change management.
