Adversarial Artificial Intelligence: The Emerging Threat of Our Time

Speaker: Stephen Kangas

Thursday, September 19, 2019, 6:30 PM

Event Summary

The historical arms race between white and black hats has always meant that whatever innovative new technologies are invented for good purposes are eventually adopted by malicious attackers for their bad purposes. Of course, it was inevitable that AI would be used to attack AI, and even used to attack traditional information systems without AI in them. Since AI has exploded in popular use in business applications ranging from stock trading to self-driving vehicles to biometrics in user authentication, this represents a new and more dangerous frontier than we have ever seen before. See some examples of current AAI attacks, learn how you will be eventually drawn into defending against AAI and where to begin implementing a technology solution. Malicious AAI attacks are beginning to happen now, and this session will give you valuable perspective with time to prepare you and our employer for the next big disruption.

In addition, ISSA Chapter President Justin White will lead an analysis of the most recent news and discuss how cyber attackers continue to evolve during his monthly Garden Fresh presentation. In this presentation, we will explore the trends that define today’s threat landscape such as recent cyber attacks, intelligence-led insights, and advanced defensive strategies.
