Nicole Darden Ford is Senior Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer for Nordstrom, Inc. As the company’s cybersecurity leader, Nicole is entrusted to protect enterprise technology assets with scalable, future-ready platforms that enable the business. She is also responsible for Nordstrom’s compliance and privacy program.

Prior to her role at Nordstrom, Inc, she was the Vice President of Global Security and Chief Information Security Officer at Rockwell Automation where she led the Cybersecurity program and supported the go-to-market strategy for Rockwell’s Cybersecurity Services.  She has guided complex organizations through security transformation journeys, built best-in-class cybersecurity programs and led high-performing teams. Nicole has 20-plus years of strategic technology leadership in the corporate sector and federal government, including the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Prior to her role at Rockwell Automation, Nicole was the Chief Information Security Officer at Carrier Global Corporation, where she established Carrier’s cybersecurity program and initiatives that aligned with enterprise goals. Under Nicole’s leadership, Carrier teams were working to monetize cybersecurity by incorporating security features in products and developing security-as-a-service solutions to be sold to customers. Known as a future-focused technology executive, Nicole is most skilled at designing and executing complex business strategies, building best-in-class cybersecurity programs, and developing and leading high performing teams.

Nicole Darden Ford is recognized as an influential communicator, accountable business partner and professional, who confidently adjusts to change in a rapidly evolving threat landscape. In addition to building cybersecurity programs for organizations across industries including manufacturing, healthcare and legal, Nicole has helped position two enterprises for IPOs. In 2023, Nicole was recognized by CISOs Connect with the Trailblazer Award for her contributions to the cybersecurity field and in October was inducted into the CSO50 Hall of Fame.

Outside of the office, Nicole serves several cybersecurity and technology organizations in board and advisory roles to share knowledge with peers and determine how to combat ever-changing risks. She is a board member of the Cybersecurity Collaborative, Evanta CISO Governing Body, Dark Reading, Team 8, CHIEF and the Lola Mercedes Parker Foundation. She is an active corporate advocate for diversity and inclusion initiatives, women’s leadership and employee resource groups.

In an era where cyber threats are increasingly sophisticated and pervasive, the security of Operational Technology (OT) systems has become paramount for industries worldwide. This session delves into the critical aspects of OT cybersecurity, addressing the unique challenges and strategies essential for protecting infrastructure that controls physical processes across various sectors, including manufacturing, energy, water treatment, and transportation. Additionally, we will cover how to get started, a practical OT security playbook and lessons learned from organizations are further on their journey.
