Family-friendly ISSA event, bring the whole family! ISSA Members and family, and kids under 16 attend for free.

This municipal turn of the last century steam plant was established in 1906 and ran until 1973, at first supplying energy for Seattle streetcars, and later supplementing other forms of energy to avoid local brownouts. A National Historic Site, it opens only once a month, but we’ll have the place to ourselves after public tours disperse on Saturday, August 11.

Plan to arrive at 2:30 PM. We’ll have a private tour of the plant at 3:00 PM courtesy of its owner, Seattle City Light, and the Steam Plant expert volunteers.

The chow-down starts at 4:00, until 6:00 PM.

It’s not quite a museum yet, so facilities are sparse. We’ll have a single picnic bench for food distribution, but no chairs or tables available. So this will be picnic style on the lawn. Please bring chairs, or blankets…and we’ll do the rest!!!

Here are some links that don’t do justice to the immensity and uniqueness of this site.

Come network with the best and brightest in the industry and also the next generation of information security professionals. See you there!!

Non-members are welcome to attend but let’s do the math. Membership into ISSA is $95 (+ chapter dues of $20). Join before the summer party, and you can register at the member price, a $30 difference. Immediately reap the benefits of membership with $30 off the summer ticket price.
