Event Summary

Join us for April’s monthly meeting.

The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will come into effect on May 25, 2018.  This has far-reaching implications for any organization that controls or processes personal data related to EU residents.

Organizations, regardless of their geographic location, need to prepare for GDPR if they have any employees, freelancers, or clients that are EU residents. And, even if none of the above conditions are present, GDPR will apply if an organization is controlling or processing any data or metadata that relates to an EU resident. This presentation will cover the four pillars of GDPR preparation, Discover, Manage, Protect, and Report, and step through relevant scenarios for each. In addition, the webinar will provide an overview of the different types tools and assessments that are available to help organizations monitor and manage compliance with GDPR.

In addition, ISSA Chapter President Justin White will lead an analysis of the most recent news and discuss how cyber attackers continue to evolve during his monthly Garden Fresh presentation. In this presentation, we will explore the trends that define today’s threat landscape such as recent cyber attacks, intelligence-led insights, and advanced defensive strategies.

Join us for the after meeting soirée with food and drinks at the Islander Restaurant. Plan on bringing a friend!!! This is a great opportunity to network with your peers, introduce your friend and to meet new people: Address 2441 76th Ave SE, Mercer Island, WA 98040
